Truck Racing

Racing a one thousand horsepower truck around the Brands Hatch Indy circuit might seem like a very silly idea. But this is exactly what the competitors in the first round of the Delphi British Truck Racing Championship did on the 28/29 March.

On the face of it the laws of physics are going to be against you every time you try to turn or stop something that weighs 5000kg but even so they produce some superb racing. With a huge amount of power and torque available a racing truck is as fast as a sports car and reaches it’s limited maximum speed of 100 mph several times over the short lap.

A strong supporting program backed up the trucks, including the Pickup Truck Racing Championship. Large grids with the top 10 places from qualifying reversed and identical machinery produced very close racing throughout the whole field.
